Configuring SIM Options

SIM Options allows you to configure call forwards, excess spend limits, voicemail and international roaming.

Accessing SIM Options

To manage your SIM Options, locate the SIM you wish to modify and from the Actions dropdown, select Manage SIM Options.

Any changes made to SIM Options may take up to 15 minutes to apply.

Setting Excess Spend

Configuring an excess spend limit will allow to use services that are not normally included in your plan and attract pay as you go charges. This enables, for example, international MMS or calls to countries that aren't included.

You are responsible for any excess usage charges. Unless you require pay as you go services, we recommend leaving this at $0.

If you do enable an excess limit, we recommend setting it to the lowest value for your expected usage.

To view applicable usage rates, click the blue question mark icon to the left of the excess spend selector.

International roaming day packs and additional data bolt-ons are not dependent on excess spend. You can still activate bolt-ons or roaming day packs with excess spend set to $0.

To enable excess spend, select a limit from the dropdown and choose Update Options.

Once activated, you can view any excess charges incurred by clicking the red excess icon under the list of SIM cards.

Setting Messaging Type

Messaging type controls what happens when you don't answer a call.

This can be set to:

  • Voicemail: Callers are prompted to leave you a voice message, which you can review by dialling 101 from your mobile.
  • Message2Text: Callers are instructed to leave a short message which is then sent to your mobile as a text message
  • None: When a call times out without answer it is disconnected.

To switch modes, simply click on the option the choose Update Options.

Updating the messaging type may change your forwarding configuration. For example, voicemail requires calls be forwarded to the voicemail system where Message2Text requires forwards be disabled.

Any changes will be reflected in the Call Forwards sections below.

Configuring Call Forwards

Call forwards allow you to define what happens with an incoming phone call if it's not answered or if your device is offline/unreachable.

Call forwards are applied in the following order:

  1. Call Forward Subscriber Busy: Applies when you're on a call already and don't have call waiting enabled.
  2. Call Forward Not Reachable: Applies when your phone is switched off or out of range
  3. Call Forward No Reply: Applies when the call has rung your phone for the configured number of seconds without being answered
  4. Call Forward Other: Forwards a call immediately. This option only activates if all other forwarding options are set to off.

To enable a forward, ensure its status is set to ON then select either voicemail to forward the call to your voicemail, or number to forward the call to the number you enter in the resulting text field.

When specifying a forwarding number, you must use 61 format. For example, if the number you wish to forward to is 07 1122 3344, enter this as 61711223344

For Call Forward No Reply, you also need to specify the number of seconds your phone should ring before the call is forwarded.

Some options may not be available depending on your Messaging Type configuration. To configure your forwards, first set Messaging Type to Voicemail or None.

Once you have specified your forwards, choose Update Options

International Roaming

To enable international roaming, set the status to ON

Roaming charges do not apply until a day pack is activated on a service.

International roaming utilises day packs which are activated by replying to an SMS message sent to the phone when it connects to a partner network in a roaming enabled country. Each Day Pack allows for calls and SMS both within the country you're roaming in and to/from Australia, along with a data allowance.

Each day pack activated by SMS incurs a charge at the rate displayed on the International Roaming option.

For details on which countries are supported, detailed inclusions, partner networks and troubleshooting, see International Roaming Day Packs

Once you have updated the status, choose Update Options to apply. If this phone is already in another country, they may need to enable then disable flight mode before they receive the roaming welcome text.
